Stamp Around UK video hop - August 2020

Yesterday I took part in a video hop alongside some other UK Stampin' Up! demonstrators.
The theme this month was 'new in-colours'.

I just love our new 2020-2022 in-colours which are: Bumblebee; Misty Moonlight; Cinnamon Cider; Just Jade and Magenta Madness.
My personal favourite of those is Magenta Madness but I love them all.

For those who don't know, each year Stampin' Up! introduce five new in-colours which then run for two years. So every year we have ten in total with an overlap of a year before one lot retire and new ones arrive.

Here are the colours:

My project for the hop was a set of five nesting boxes. I used in-colours for the box bases and introduced new DSPs for each lid, all from the new August-December mini catalogue; so there are a few sneak peaks between the DSPs and the stamp set I used for the sentiments.

All boxes were 2" deep (5cm) and all bases were scored at 2" (5cm). The lids are reinforced and  were all scored at 3/4" and 2" (1.9cm and 5cm).
** All centimetre measurements are worked out to the closest available **

Here are the measurements for each box, starting with the smallest:

Please note - ALL bases are scored at 2" (5cm) on all sides and the lids are all scored at 3/4" and 2" (1.9cm and 5cm) on all sides.

3" x 3" (7.6cm x 7.6cm) box
For the base, you'll need cardstock measuring just under 7" (17.8cm) square, so remove about 1/16" from each side when you cut it.
For the lid you'll need DSP measuring exactly 7" square (17.8cm)

3.25" x 3.25" (8.3cm x 8.3cm) box
For the base - cardstock measuring just under 7.25" (18.4cm) square, so again remove a tiny amount from each side when you cut it.
For the lid - DSP measuring exactly 7.25" (18.4cm) square.

3.5" x 3.5" (8.9cm x 8.9cm) box
For the base - cardstock measuring just under 7.5" (19cm) square, so again removing a tiny bit each side.
For the lid - DSP measuring exactly 7.5" (19cm) square.

3.75" x 3.75" (9.5cm x 9.5cm) box
For the base - cardstock measuring just under 7.75" (19.7cm) square, remembering to remove a tiny bit on each side.
For the lid - DSP measuring exactly 7.75" (19.7cm).

4" x 4" (10.2cm x 10.2cm) box
For the base - cardstock measuring just under 8" (20.3cm) square, remembering to remove a tiny bit on each side.
For the lid - DSP measuring exactly 8" (20.3cm) square.

However now that things are a bit more settled, I’m looking forward to getting back to crafting and blogging!

There’s so much going on in the Stampin’ Up! world right now and I can’t wait to chat about it all and get crafting with lots of new products 😊

Tropical Garden Tent Gift Box

Well, we've had a few fabulous days here in Scotland, and it's felt very tropical indeed - a rare occurrence! 😎

So I thought I'd use it to inspire today's project - a tent gift box with a DSP sleeve using the lovely 'Garden Lane' DSP and the 'Tropical Chic' stamp set!

I monopolised on the fact that this DSP uses most of our Stampin' Up! 'greens' and I think the DSP matches the stamp set perfectly.

This box was made using Mint Macaron cardstock and I used Garden Green, Granny Apple Green and Mint Macaron inks for the leaves. I then stamped the 'Thank you' sentiment in Garden Green.
I used Whisper White cardstock to stamp them all, then cut out the leaves using our Tropical Dies and the sentiment using the smallest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

I used my Multipurpose Liquid Glue (sadly not currently orderable) to add the leaves straight on to the box and raised the sentiment up using Mini Dimensionals.

In my video tutorial here, I used Garden Green cardstock for the box and a different sheet of DSP for the sleeve. I stuck with the same colours for the leaves and the sentiment.

Instructions

You'll need:

A piece of cardstock measuring 10&1/2" x 4&1/2" for the box

A piece of DSP measuring 3&1/2" x 8" for the sleeve

Score on the long side at: 1/2", 2", 5&1/2" and 7" then add tick marks at the top at 1&1/4" and at 6&1/4"

Turn clockwise and score on the short side at 1&1/2"

Then add triangular scores from the tick marks down to the corners where the vertical and horizontal scor3e lines cross on both the narrow panels (these will become the side panels with triangular folds)

Cut up the vertical score lines from the bottom to meet the horizontal score line, but remove the narrow rectangle on the end (the 1/2" end) and notch the 1/2" panel top and bottom (this will join your box together).
Notch the smaller panels at the bottom to form the inside flaps and make tiny notches at each side of the larger panels.

Now fold and burnish on the triangular score lines in the narrow panels.

Fold in the smaller flaps on the base, then the back larger panel, finishing with the front larger panel using double-sided tape or liquid glue.

Stamp the leaves on to Whisper White cardstock using inks as above and cut out using the Tropical Dies. Then arrange on the front of the DSP sleeve.
Stamp the sentiment on to Whisper White cardstock using Garden Green ink and cut out using the smallest oval in the Stitched Shapes Framelit dies. Add this to the base of the leaves using Mini Dimensionals.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this project and I hope to see you again very soon!

Darcye's Tealight Box

As well as loving Stampin' Up!, I also love Darcey's products. Darcey's is a fast-growing Scottish company selling soy wax melts - which is their flagship product - as well as soy wax candles, tealights, bath & body products, rollerball perfumes, aroma beads, reed diffusers and car diffusers (air fresheners).
All of these products are cruelty-free too! So it made sense to be an Ambassador and enjoy a discount while making my house smell gorgeous knowing that none of the products are tested on animals!
I also have my own team of lovely ladies, as well as my own Stampin' Up! team.

So I decided to make a little gift box to hold some of our soy wax (unscented) tealights to gift to a friend;

I used Soft Sea Foam cardstock for the box and the DSP is from the beautiful 'Garden Lane' 12x12 pack.
Then I stamped two daisies from the beautiful new 'Daisy Lane' stamp set using Soft Sea Foam ink and punched them out using the new Medium Daisy Punch. I offset the petals and stuck the daisies together using a Mini Glue Dot. I then added a Clear Faceted Gem to the centre of the daisy.

In my video tutorial click here, I changed it up a little bit and used Mossy Meadow cardstock for the box with a different sheet of DSP. I used Mossy meadow ink for the daisies.

I had the idea in my head to have the flap on the lid showing on the outside of the box rather than tucking it in and I think it works really well. The daisy helps to hold it in place. although you can easily add a Mini Glue Dot to the underside of the flap if you wish - just take care when opening it so as not to tear the DSP.

Instructions:
You'll need:
A piece of cardstock measuring 7" x 6" for the box

Pieces of DSP for the panels as follows:
Three pieces measuring 1&1/2" x 2&5/8"
Two pieces measuring 1&1/2" square

A scrap of Whisper White or Thick Whisper White cardstock to stamp the daisies

Score the cardstock on the long side at: 1/2", 2&1/8", 3&3/4" and 5&3/8"

Score on the short side at: 1&5/8" and 4&3/8"

Adhere the larger DSP panels to the front, top and back of the box (keeping any directional patterns true) and the smaller square panels to each side (again, keeping directional patterns true).

Add a Clear Faceted Gem to the centre of the daisy and add the daisy to the front of the box using a Dimensional. Then tuck the flap on the lid behind the daisy.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this project and I hope to see you again soon!
